UH-OH: Former Fox News Star And Fiance to Trump’s Son Could Be On Way Out of Administration

Well, a once-renowned Fox News host could be on their way out of the Trump administration – and out of Trump’s orbit for good.

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are reportedly considering removing Kimberly Guilfoyle as U.S. ambassador to Greece following a series of allegations involving financial misconduct, improper gifts and the possible misuse of her diplomatic position.

A senior U.S. official told The Associated Press on Sunday that Trump and Rubio are deeply frustrated by the reports and could decide Guilfoyle’s future later this week. The official, speaking anonymously about internal administration discussions, said both men were “extremely pissed off” by the allegations.

Rubio has reportedly grown particularly frustrated as additional accusations have surfaced, including during his recent diplomatic visit to Athens. Guilfoyle, a former Fox News personality and former fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., has denied wrongdoing through her attorneys.

Among the most serious accusations is a report that Guilfoyle sought $100,000 from a political donor to cover an American Express credit card bill before her Senate confirmation hearing. The Wall Street Journal reported that Guilfoyle contacted businessman and Trump supporter Eric Deters in July 2025, allegedly requesting that he send money directly to American Express.

The newspaper reviewed messages that appeared to show Guilfoyle asking for the payment while discussing her connections to influential figures in the Trump administration. Deters subsequently told CBS News that he interpreted the request as an attempt to exchange political access for financial assistance. “It was quid pro quo,” Deters said.

He maintained that Guilfoyle offered to help him obtain access to administration officials and other prominent conservatives. Deters said he ultimately did not provide the money. Guilfoyle’s attorneys disputed his account, saying the businessman owed her money for speaking engagements and consulting services performed before she entered government service.

They argued that seeking payment for legitimate professional work did not constitute corruption. Her lawyers have also questioned the authenticity of some reported communications. Separate reports have raised concerns about Guilfoyle’s relationship with individuals representing major Greek companies.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the ambassador promoted the interests of Aktor Group, a Greek construction and energy company, during official diplomatic activities. The newspaper also reported that Christos Marafatsos, a registered lobbyist for the company, accompanied Guilfoyle to meetings involving American and foreign government officials.

According to the reporting, some participants were unaware that Marafatsos was representing private commercial interests.

The State Department’s inspector general is examining the allegations, according to a U.S. official who spoke with The Associated Press.

The controversy became particularly uncomfortable for Rubio during his visit to Athens last week. Guilfoyle participated in several of the secretary’s official engagements and greeted him upon his arrival. At one point, Rubio publicly defended her performance. “Our ambassador has been a strong ambassador here,” he told reporters.

However, after additional allegations emerged, Rubio became visibly frustrated when journalists pressed him for answers. “You guys walk around thinking that because some source told you something and you reported it, it’s the gospel,” Rubio said Thursday. “It’s not the gospel. It’s not the gospel for me. That’s not the way we do things.”

Guilfoyle, 57, became a prominent conservative media personality during her years at Fox News, where she served as a co-host of “The Five.” She previously worked as a prosecutor in California. After leaving Fox News, Guilfoyle became a prominent Trump campaign fundraiser and political surrogate. She was also engaged to Donald Trump Jr. before their relationship ended.
