Third victim in horrific news helicopter crash was just 29

The morning began with plans and promise. By nightfall, families were getting calls no one is ever ready for.

A young Guatemalan entrepreneur, a beloved reporter, and a veteran pilot talking about retirement — all gone in seconds. Witnesses saw the helicopter sinking, flames roaring, sirens closing in, and then nothing but twisted metal and grief.

He had come to Los Angeles with a simple goal: two days of hard work, a few vehicles bought, shipments arranged, and then a proud return to Cuilapa. Instead, his name was read on the evening news, and his family’s first task was not welcoming him home, but finding a way to bring his body back across a continent.

Friends remembered his jokes, his loud laugh, and the way he filled every room. Now they speak about him in the past tense and refresh a fundraiser link that should never have had to exist.

For his family, the tragedy was more than a headline. It became a series of painful realities: confirming his identity, contacting relatives, arranging documents, and facing the enormous cost of bringing him home. Every phone call carried another reminder that the trip that had begun with business plans would end with a journey no family wants to make.
