Norma June Platell, 90, and her husband Francis Ernest Platell, 92, were married for 70 years and passed away just minutes apart. Norma had advanced Alzheimer’s, while Francis was in the hospital recovering from a broken hip and a serious infection.
On January 6, their daughter shared a touching story about their final moments together. A nurse noticed that Norma was breathing differently and that Francis seemed restless. When the nurse returned ten minutes later, they had both passed away peacefully, holding hands as they had wished.
Their daughter believed that they had the perfect ending, stating, “I think God lent them a helping hand.” In their last moments, they seemed to mimic each other’s actions, a sign of their strong bond. Their love was celebrated by about 250 friends and family members who came to say goodbye.
