In 2018, when Amedy Dewey was just 18, her stepfather sh*t her in the face during a domestic violence attack that also tragically took her mother’s life.
Amedy survived — but with devastating injuries.
Over the next seven years, she endured 37+ reconstructive surgeries, fighting through pain, trauma, and years of not being able to eat normally.
Now at 25, she’s reached a powerful milestone:
She was able to eat solid food again for the first time in years.
But her courage goes far beyond physical recovery.
Amedy has turned her trauma into purpose — working as a trauma therapist, speaker, and advocate, raising awareness about domestic violence, mental health, and gun safety.
Her story is a reminder that healing is possible, even after the darkest moments — and that survivors deserve support, not silence.
Sending love and strength to Amedy and all survivors of domestic violence.
