New White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia held her first press briefing on Tuesday. Now, she is being mocked online, with some saying she won’t last long.
President Donald Trump’s new White House press secretary, Katie Zacharia, held a remarkably short first press briefing on Tuesday. The event lasted less than 15 minutes, and only three reporters got to ask questions. And while it was short, and perhaps therefore had few risks of messing up, her performance is now being brutally mocked on social media.
Zacharia spent more than half of the briefing reading prepared remarks before taking questions from three news sources: Breitbart, Fox News and the Daily Mail. The short appearance was one of the briefest White House press briefings in recent history.
During her first briefing, Katie Zacharia said the administration had asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. ambassador to Greece, to resign after allegations of misconduct.
However, as with the former real estate mogul’s former press secretaries, much of Zacharia’s remarks focused on praising Trump and his policies.
New White House press secretary Katie Zacharia brutally mocked
She described her new prominent role as a chance to “amplify” the president, which she said she already does as a conservative commentator.
“I hope to take that into an official capacity,” Zacharia said, adding that she hopes to “only build on, only amplify and only multiply, to the extent possible, all of the wins” that Donald Trump is “making for Americans, for Americans to understand how much has changed in this brief period of time, what he’s been able to accomplish.”
“My goal is to be able to communicate that in complete tandem with the president, as he is his own best spokesperson and will absolutely be leading the way with that,” she added.
When asked about Fox News whether the U.S. has stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine in connection to Russia’s invasion, Zacharia replied she would “have to get back to you on that.”
While some argued that the new White House Press Secretary made a good first impression, others brutally mocked Katie Zacharia on social media.
One viewer asked if it was a “hostage video,” while another said Zacharia “makes Karoline Leavitt seem like Winston Churchill.”
“She got off on the wrong foot”
“It’s giving flight attendant doing the safety briefing for the first time,” another user on X wrote.
She may not make it a full Scaramucci,” another claimed, referring to Anthony Scaramucci, who became the shortest-serving communications director in White House history.
“Her only qualifications were to be young blonde and white,” another wrote.
MS NOW reporter Jake Traylor reported that a White House official sadly gave Zacharia a bad review on her first press conference.
“Getting behind the podium is tough, but she got off on the wrong foot. She needs to get much better, fast, otherwise she’ll break Scaramucci’s record,” he said.
However, everyone didn’t agree. Speaking to LADBible. White House communications director Steven Cheung said, “Katie is a fabulous and wonderful addition to the team.
He added, “She is uniquely qualified and whip smart to help inform the American people about all the great things president Trump and his Administration have been doing, and she will do an incredible job as press secretary.”
