At just 29 years old, Augustina Higuera from Paris, Texas, is already the proud mother of 14 daughters — including three sets of twins — and she says she’s not stopping until she finally welcomes a baby boy.
“We both really, really want a boy,” Augustina said of herself and her husband, Jose, 30. “We’d be over the moon. We’re besotted with our girls, but Jose is outnumbered — we’d love to even things out.”
Two months ago, Augustina beat odds of 500,000 to one to give birth to her third set of twins, Bella and Isabella. And though her home is filled with little girls, she says she’d happily keep going:
“I have no upper limit. I’d have another 10 if it meant having a boy.”
Her daily life is nothing short of organized chaos — 42 loads of laundry in a day, eight different meals, and school drop-offs in a minibus. Yet despite surviving on only two hours of sleep a night, she says she wouldn’t change a thing.
“It’s chaos looking after 14 girls, but I’ve always wanted to be a mum,” she said. “Although twins run in my family, I never expected to have three sets. We’re so blessed.”
Augustina’s journey to supermum status began early — she became pregnant at 15 with her first daughter, Belicia, followed by Nyelli, Liliana, and Vanessa. After her first marriage ended, she met Jose, and together they expanded their family with Daniela, Cilla, Luzelena, Marielena, Analilia, and Aravelia, before welcoming the latest sets of twins.
Each time, she’s held onto hope that one of her babies might be a boy — but every ultrasound brought the same surprise: more girls.
“When I found out I was having twins again, I thought surely one would be a boy,” she laughed. “But nope — both girls. The doctor said it was like winning the lottery.”
Despite the odds and exhaustion, Augustina’s heart — and her home — remain full.
“Jose works seven days a week to support us, and we feel so lucky,” she said. “I think we’ll start trying again when the youngest are four. Maybe next time, we’ll get our boy.”
A whirlwind life of laughter, laundry, and love — and one determined mum who won’t stop until her family feels complete.
